Every student joins us with a different starting point, a different pace, and different gaps. Our online teaching adapts around them, not the other way around. Small groups. Interactive lessons. Ongoing feedback. Every step driven by data from PhD scientists who built this programme themselves.
No two students are the same, so we start by actually getting to know yours before a single lesson plan is written. Everything takes place online so your child can join from home.
Before your child's first lesson, they sit a free baseline assessment designed by our PhD scientists. It tests the exact topics they are working on at school and gives us a precise picture of where they are strong and where the gaps are. Parents receive the full results via WhatsApp.
Your child's first class is free. The tutor will already have seen the assessment results, so the session is relevant from the start. Parents see the teaching style and group dynamic first hand before committing to anything.
Using the assessment results, we assign your child to the group that best matches their current level. Groups are small so every student in the room is working at a similar stage. If it ever makes sense to move them, we do on their timeline, not a fixed schedule.
Each month's progress test results inform what the group covers next. Weak areas get more session time. Topics the group has mastered are moved on from. The direction is always driven by the data, not a fixed schedule.
When the monthly results come in, the tutor does not just note them and move on. Every score informs what the group spends time on in the following online sessions, with more time on weaker areas and less on what the group has already mastered.
Strong scores across the group mean the tutor moves forward. No time wasted on content already understood.
A low group score on a topic means it stays on the agenda and gets covered in greater depth before moving on.
If a student has high attendance but is scoring poorly across all areas, we step in with a free 1 to 1 online session to address the root of the problem.
Algebra moves to extension content. Statistics leads every session agenda and gets deeper coverage until scores improve.
Sitting silently while a tutor talks does not build understanding. Our online sessions are designed so students think out loud, make mistakes safely, and develop the confidence to ask the awkward question.
Before the tutor explains a concept, students are asked what they already know or think. This reveals real understanding and means the tutor teaches from where the student actually is.
Students work through problems in the online session with the tutor alongside, not watching from the front. Misconceptions are caught in real time and corrected before they become habits.
Students are actively encouraged to ask the questions they would not dare raise in school. A confident student who asks questions learns faster than one who stays quiet.
Our online classes are deliberately small so every student is seen. There are no back rows to hide in, and the tutor can address each student individually within every session.
The tutor checks for understanding multiple times per session, not just at the end. If a student has lost the thread, the session adjusts immediately rather than pressing on.
Each class has defined learning objectives so students always know what they are working towards and why it matters for their progress.
Every piece of homework is reviewed question by question, with written tutor feedback explaining what went right, what to fix, and why it matters for the exam. Delivered via the app and reinforced in the next online session.
Students and parents see marks and tutor comments broken down by question, not just a score at the bottom.
Common mistakes from homework are addressed at the start of the following class.
Recurring mistakes are flagged in the monthly report so parents see patterns, not just one off errors.
Sterling Study is fully online. Your child gets the same PhD level teaching whether you are in a city centre or a rural village. We have 600+ students joining us from every corner of the UK.
